Avoriaz, situated in the heart of Les Portes du Soleil, offers world class terrain for off-piste and backcountry skiing and snowboarding. Our Instructors have extensive local knowledge to guide and train you and help you to get the best of this magical sport. This page details the various options we offer.
Off Piste tuition & guiding
New to the area? Want to explore the mountains outside of the groomed trails? Do you want to improve your ability to ski and snowboard in off-piste conditions? Is there a lot of snow on the forecast and you want to be in the right place at the right time? Want to explore the tree runs without getting lost? Are you looking for powder?
If the answer to any of the above is yes then we recommend a private instructor for you or your private group. Have an instructor guide you off-piste and teach the ropes along the way.
Safety equipment can be provided at no extra cost but please let us know in advance if you need it.
Please see our Private Lessons page for pricing information.
For experienced skiers and snowboarders, our instructors can guide you away from the resort, lifts and crowds and into the backcountry! If you are interested in an awesome adventure during your trip, get in touch with our team to discuss the conditions and let us suggest the best routes to you.
Condition permitting, we can guide you down the famous Vallée de la Manche route safely whilst searching for the best snow. Starting in Avoriaz, the trip will take in a few off-piste warm up runs before hiking (5 minutes) over a ridge and into the wild. Ski or snowboard down an epic backcountry valley, stop for a celebratory beer at the bottom and return to Morzine or Avoriaz using free shuttle buses.
Safety is always priority number 1 and it is imperative you have a qualified guide and the correct equipment when exploring away from the resort.
Full safety equipment is included at no extra cost.

Not only is it fantastic exercise but it gives you a new level of freedom, being able to ride anywhere you like and explore untouched regions away from resorts. If you're after fresh tracks in powder snow, this is the best way of finding it, but touring also gives you a beautiful new perspective of the mountains. Of course, safety is paramount and it is essential you have the right equipment and skillset before even thinking of heading out without a guide.
Our instructors know touring techniques as well as the local area inside out and can help you to learn new skills and enjoy this fantastic sport.
We can offer introductory sessions to get you started and understand all the equipment, as well as guided tours if you are looking for the best place to go.
