We offer lessons for all ages and abilities, in both private and group setting in Avoriaz
Our meeting point & office (aka The Hut) is on the Avoriaz Plateau (next to La Folie Douce), with easy access from Morzine and surrounding areas
Our boys (aged 9 and 12, both beginner skiers) had two lessons with Mark at Avoriaz Alpine Ski School and they both found them incredibly helpful. Mark was kind, patient and great with kids - the boys enjoyed his company whilst also finding his teaching style entertaining and fun. We would thoroughly recommend this school for children looking to pick up skiing quickly and in a fun and friendly environment.

The whole team from Avoriaz Alpine Ski School were amazing. Pierre was a fantastic teacher for my wife. He really pushed her into doing runs she wouldn’t normally do but in a very supportive way. Teddy was great with my son, finally getting him off the nursery slopes and down his 1st ever proper ski slope. And my off piste with Mark was probably the best 2hours I’ve had on the slopes. Our holiday was not without delays and Sam in the office was fantastic at rearranging lessons around at the last minute across a very busy period! Can't recommend Avoriaz Alpine enough!

Would highly recommend this ski school. The whole team were fantastic and so helpful but special thanks to Laurent for delivering the BEST ski lessons for our kids. We had a group of kids aged 6-12 and they all progressed so much in 5 days. They all loved Laurent and have already asked us to rebook with him when we next come. We will certainly be doing that!. Very helpful and flexible company that deliver high quality and fun lessons. Also great to have the meeting point away from the busy main ski school area. All in all - fantastic! Thank you!

Not sure how you could get any better! We were given the names of their instructors when booking and were v happy they were both native English speakers. The groups weren’t too big and they had put ages and abilities together well.
We liked that they also taught the children the safety elements of skiing. Thank you very much indeed Ian and Mark. We were so happy we took time to read enough reviews to track down such a great school.

Welcome to Morzine/Avoriaz, at the heart of the Portes du Soleil – one of the world’s largest linked ski areas spanning France and Switzerland.
Famous for its variety and accessibility, the Portes du Soleil truly offers something for everyone. From gentle, scenic green and blue slopes ideal for families and beginners, to challenging black runs and expansive off-piste terrain for advanced skiers, this region is a playground for all levels.
Just 1.5 hours from Geneva Airport and easily reachable by car – around 9 hours from Calais – this is one of the most accessible ski areas in the Alps. Morzine and Avoriaz are neighbouring resorts, linked by an efficient lift system, allowing skiers and snowboarders to move between them with ease.
Our ski school meeting point, known as “The Hut,” is centrally located on the Plateau in Avoriaz, right next to La Folie Douce. It offers direct access to some of the most snow-sure and varied slopes in the Portes du Soleil. Whether you're staying in Avoriaz, Morzine, Les Gets, Saint-Jean-d'Aulps, Châtel, or even the Geneva area, getting to us is simple.
Founded in 1992 by former World Cup mogul skier and BASI trainer Ian McKellar, the Avoriaz Alpine Ski School was one of the first British-run ski schools in the French Alps. We are a small, independent team of British and French instructors, all fully qualified to the highest international standards and recognised by the French authorities.
We offer ski and snowboard lessons for all ages and abilities — in English or French, in private or group formats. Whether it’s your first time on snow or you’re looking to refine expert technique, our team is passionate about sharing our love for skiing and the incredible Avoriaz / Portes du Soleil area with every guest.
